AT LEAST 65 percent of the maize crop in the country is in a good condition following recent rains, but farmers have been encouraged to be on high alert of armyworm.
In an interview yesterday, the Agriculture and Rural Development Advisory Services (Ardas) chief director, Leonard Munamati, said 20 percent of the maize crop was at planting to emerging stages.
“The bulk of the crop, 65 percent, is at vegetative stage and in good condition…,” he said.
