IMPALA Platinum (Implats) says the implementation of the sulfur dioxide abatement plant project and smelter expansion project at its local unit, Zimplats, were rationalised to manage cash constraints during the half year ended December 31, 2023.

The miner said the execution of the Selous Base Metal Refinery refurbishment was deferred during the period under review while further phases of the 185-megawatt solar project have also been postponed.

Overall, Zimplats’ capital expenditure increased by 47 percent to US$194 million during the half-year period compared to US$132 million recorded in the comparable period.
