ZIMBABWE’S construction sector is entering the second quarter with considerable momentum, backed by a series of infrastructure projects poised for commencement, according to industry players.

The upbeat outlook aligns with governmental projections, which forecast a 3,4 percent growth in the construction sector for the current year, dovetailing with the national ambition to erect 220,000 housing units by the year 2025.

Speaking to The Financial Gazette on the sidelines of the Institute of Architects of Zimbabwe’s 2024 conference, ZIMBUILD Property Investments chief executive Tinashe Manzungu highlighted the unprecedented level of infrastructural development initiatives already underway in the first quarter — a departure from previous years’ trends.
