SUGAR producer Starafrica Corporation anticipates its volumes to recover after taking a knock last year due to a confluence of factors including a major plant shutdown due to raw sugar supply challenges and intense competition from cheap imported products among others.
The group sustained a three-month plant shutdown at its flagship subsidiary Goldstar Sugar which resulted in a 32 percent decrease in sales volumes of granulated white sugar to 55 799 tonnes from 82 321 tonnes prior year.
