SADC weather experts are meeting in Harare to deliberate over the 2024/25 rainfall season forecast for the region.

This comes as the region last season experienced low rainfall due to the El Nino phenomenon, leading to most parts of Southern Africa experiencing the worst drought in 40 years and severe food shortages.

Speaking at the climate experts meeting yesterday, permanent secretary in the Environment and Climate ministry, Prosper Matondi said seasonal forecasts were important as they give guidance on what to expect ahead of the next season.
