THE Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) yesterday dismissed unsubstantiated claims that mealie-meal processed by some of its members contained glyphosate and caused cancer.

Glyphosate is an herbicide used to kill certain plants and grasses, manage how plants grow, get crops ready for harvest, and ripen fruit.

Addressing the media in the capital yesterday, GMAZ national chairman Tafadzwa Musarara said the association engaged the Standards Association of Zimbabwe to conduct tests on six mealie-meal products, which found that the staple food was not harmful.
