DESPITE a growing need for protection against climate-related losses, Zimbabwe’s insurance companies have shown a reluctance to cover agricultural risks, leaving many of the country’s farmers unprotected.

Last season’s severe drought, driven by El Niño, drastically reduced agricultural output and further strained the economy.

This situation underscored the need for insurance, particularly as farmers face increasingly unpredictable weather due to climate change.
