PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday commissioned a 720-megawatt Titan Thermal Power Plant and a 100-megawatt solar PV project by Afrochine in Hwange.
This comes as the country is battling with a power crisis that has negatively impacted businesses and ordinary people amid a 12 hour load schedule.
In his key address during the groundbreaking ceremony of the power plants that are set to become operational by the end of next year, Mnangagwa said the launch marked a significant milestone in the country’s energy sector.
