FOLLOWING the announcement of the 2025 national budget, the business community has renewed calls for the abolition of the Intermediated Money Transfer Tax (IMTT).

Many argue that the tax, introduced as part of efforts to broaden the treasury’s revenue base, is imposing unsustainable financial pressure on the private sector.

The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce has highlighted concerns over the IMTT, citing its detrimental impact on economic competitiveness, administrative efficiency, and the country’s integration into the global trading system.
