AGRICULTURAL and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) says there is an outbreak of the fall armyworm in various parts of the country that is affecting the maize crop.

ARDA board chairperson, Ivan Craig, yesterday encouraged farmers to spray their crops to minimise the damage from the pests.

“There is an outbreak of the fall armyworm which is affecting our maize crop hence this requires farmers to protect their crop.

“We are also receiving reports from farmers across the country of their crops which are also being affected by fungal infections, therefore, we urge farmers to spray their crops,” he said.
