Meikles supermarket arm reports sales increase despite declining disposable incomes

MEIKLES Group has reported a 45 percent (60 percent on a like-for-like basis) revenue growth to $278,9 billion (Previous year: $191,7 billion).
“In historical cost terms, revenue grew by 356 percent (420 percent on a like-for-like basis) to $230,9 billion (previous year: $50,7 billion),” Meikles chairman John Moxon said in a statement accompanying the company’s 2023 annual report.
“Growth in sales units was achieved at the supermarket segment under tough operating conditions characterised by declining customer disposable income during the greater part of the period under review.”
