PLATINUM group metals (PGMs) production at Unki Mine increased by five percent to 243 800 ounces during the year ended December 31, 2023 benefiting from the concentrator debottlenecking project.

The Shurugwi-based miner completed the debottlenecking project in 2022 which should see monthly tonnes milled increase from 175 000 tonnes per month to 210 000 tonnes, leading to a 50 000 PGM ounces increase per annum.

Anglo American Platinum said tonnes milled rose by three percent against 2022 despite mill relining challenges post the debottlenecking at its Zimbabwean unit, Unki Mine.

4E built-up head grade increased by one percent to 3,46 gramme per tonne, reflecting the benefit of work to reduce waste dilution from mining in lower-grade areas.
