ACZ pushes for new aviation fund reforms

THE Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) says the Aviation Infrastructure Development Fund (AIDEF) is struggling to serve its purpose due to subeconomic tariffs, which also limit its capacity to meet loan repayments.

The AIDF is a levy added to air travel tickets to fund infrastructure development and maintenance of airports in Zimbabwe.

A further complication arises from the 20 percent foreign currency surrender requirement to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) on AIDEF collections, which restricts ACZ’s full access to hard currency.
