GOVERNMENT is sweating over power cuts saying they are struggling to supply enough electricity as the country’s economy is growing rapidly.

Speaking in the Senate last week, deputy energy minister Yeukai Simbanegavi said it was difficult to improve the country’s electricity situation due to a number of reasons.

“I can start by saying our electricity situation right now is very normal under the circumstances that we are operating in. This year, we have an El Nino and this has greatly affected the water levels at Kariba Dam, which is affecting our generating capacity in terms of hydro-electricity,” she said.
