PARLIAMENT is on a fact-finding mission to establish the security of the country’s national points of entry amid reports of rampant smuggling of various goods including hard drugs and other substances.
This comes as the government is working on introducing computerized and online border management systems at all points of entry to improve efficiency, eliminate errors and curb corruption.
A joint session by the parliamentary portfolio committee on Defence, Security and Home Affairs, and the thematic committee on Peace and Security commenced the tour on Monday seeking to establish the state of the country’s ports of entry.
