‘Cereal import ban to disrupt supply’

THE proposed ban on the importation of cereals by the government could result in abrupt shortages and disruption to processors’ supply chains, the Food Crop Contractors Association has warned.

This follows recommendations by Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka in the Crops, Livestock and Fisheries Assessment 2024/25 summer season report, which suggests that cereal imports should be ‘stopped to encourage purchase of local grain.’
