TELECOMMUNICATIONS firm, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe (Econet) is set to expand its 5G network rollout to other parts of the country as part of efforts to unlock growth opportunities.
5G is the 5th generation mobile network, a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.
It has a lower latency, high speeds (up to 10 times faster than 4G) and support for numerous connected devices compared with 4G networks.
Econet introduced 5G in February 2022 in partnership with global technology infrastructure suppliers, Ericson and ZTE.
