Edgars eyes South African export market

EDGARS Stores (Edgars) says it will expand its export footprint to South Africa later this year on improved capacity and collaboration with Turkey and Italy partners in producing quality clothes and footwear in Zimbabwe.
Edgars formally controlled by South African retail giant, Edco which sold its 41 percent stake to Mauritius incorporated entity SSCG Africa Holdings in 2019 has been boosted by installed production capacity at its Carousel manufacturing unit in Bulawayo.
The clothing retailer opened its 27th Edgars store at Ascot Shopping Centre, in Bulawayo last week.
Speaking at the official opening, Edgars chief executive, Sevious Mushosho said the company was ordering fabrics from Turkey and using international trends in designing clothes to reclaim its local market share and start exporting to South Africa.
