THE Industry Ministry says buying local products will reduce reliance on imports and boost domestic production.
Speaking at the 13th Buy Zimbabwe Annual Awards in Harare at the weekend, the Industry Ministry permanent secretary, Thomas Utete Wushe, said the government’s local content strategy was anchored on stimulating the development of the local industry, value and supply chains, as well as promoting linkages between the agricultural, extractive, industrial and service sectors.
“Under this strategy, the government is focused on domesticating many strategic value chains such as sugar, steel, leather and pharmaceuticals, to name, but some of the value chains. The success of this strategy will save the country millions of dollars in imports…,” he said.
