AUTHORITIES have expressed concern over lack of women participation in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT) saying mentoring programmes were necessary in order to address the disparity.
Speaking during the commemoration of the girls in ICT Day in Mutare on Friday, ICT minister Tatenda Mavetera said the government was coming up with strategic and innovative ideas that would lure girls to participate in the sector.
“To encourage more female leadership in ICT, it is imperative to implement targeted strategies such as mentoring programs, networking opportunities, educational initiatives, and inclusive policies that promote gender diversity at all levels”
