AUTHORITIES have pledged to financially rescue Mimosa Mining Company to overcome its operational challenges that have seen the firm downsize its staff complement.
This comes after Mimosa last year embarked on cost reduction and cash conservation initiatives by rationalising more than 30 managerial and supervisory employees.
It also comes as the platinum producer’s existing reserves are projected to last only eight more years, threatening the livelihoods of its 3 000 employees and surrounding communities that depend on its operation.
