THE consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Zimbabwe increased by nine percent in the first nine months of 2024, reaching 53,23 million kilogrammes (kg), compared to 48,86 million kg during the same period in 2023, according to the latest figures from the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).
Zimbabwe continues to face an electricity supply shortfall, leading to extended periods of load shedding.
As a result, LPG has emerged as an essential alternative energy source, particularly for cooking and heating during power outages.
