MOTORISTS now have to pay more for registering their vehicles with the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR). This comes as the CVR has sharply increased car registration fees up to a maximum of US$500 for luxury vehicles — a development which has triggered an outcry from motorists.
The new registration fees were announced by Finance minister Mthuli Ncube in his recent 2024 national budget. “These fees were announced by the Finance minister … with a view of generating enough resources for road infrastructure development across the country,’’ the Ministry of Transport said yesterday.
