‘Slight increase in poverty line recorded’

THE total consumption poverty line (TCPL) for one person rose to ZiG1 279,69 this month compared to ZiG1 263,41 in April, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) has announced.

According to Zimstat, if an individual does not consume more than the TCPL, he or she is deemed poor. The latest figures show that a family of six now needs a monthly basket of ZiG7 678,14 compared to ZiG7 580,46 in April.

 The Total Consumption Poverty Line for one person was ZiG1 279,69 in May 2025.
