PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa last week exempted a total of 21 parastatals and State-owned companies from the requirements of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
The Act allows Mnangagwa after consulting with the Procurement Regulating Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz) to exempt any public entity from application of the Act.
In a general notice published in the Government Gazette, Mnangagwa said the listed public entities were operating in competitive markets and needed to be protected and exempted from public procurement.
“Now therefore, under and by virtue of the powers vested in the President as aforesaid, I do hereby give notice that the public entities mentioned below are exempted from the application of the Act,” the notice read.
