THE Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) is touting expanded opportunities for investors to produce nicotine from tobacco waste.
In an interview, TIMB’s acting chief executive officer, Emmanuel Matsvaire, revealed that Zimbabwe generates significant tobacco waste, far exceeding the capacity of the country’s sole nicotine production facility.
“The current factory cannot process all the waste produced in the country. There is ample opportunity for other investors to establish similar factories, as the volume of waste is substantial…,” Matsvaire said.
