THE tobacco selling season officially kicked off yesterday, with the highest price being US$4,65 and the lowest bid being US$1,59 per kilogramme.
This comes as the opening price for the previous season was US$4,92 per kilogramme, up from US$4,35 in 2023.
Speaking during the launch of the 2025 tobacco marketing season, the minister of Agriculture, Anxious Masuka, indicated that a yield of around 250 million kilogrammes was expected in the current season, representing a decline of around 30 million kilogrammes from last year.
