NEARLY US$800 million worth of tobacco was sold this year compared to US$894 million last season. At least 230,8 million kg of tobacco was sold this season compared to 295 million last year, which is a 21,8 percent decline.
This comes as the 2024 tobacco season is expected to come to an end this Thursday.
In a statement released yesterday, the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board said farmers would be free to sell their tobacco through a mop-up sale.
