THE Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) has budgeted US$120 million to undertake the country’s first economic census from next month until 2026.
Speaking at the training of Zimstat mappers in Harare yesterday, the agency’s acting director general, Aluwiso Mukavhi, said the census was meant to come up with comprehensive baseline figures on the size and structure of the country’s economy.
“The statistics will enable the government, private sector, research institutions, academia and other stakeholders to understand the economic landscape of our country, thereby facilitating evidence-based policy formulation, decision –making and strategic planning…”
