WB sees headwinds as Zimbabwe ponders new SMP

THE World Bank says Zimbabwe’s pursuit of a new Staff Monitored Programme with the International Monetary Fund might make 2025 potentially challenging for the economy.

The IMF has traditionally prescribed neo-liberal policies which have often times resulted in the cost of living rising.

Zimbabwe requested a new SMP from the IMF, which is meant to support the nation’s stabilisation efforts and re-engagement with the international community by building a track record of sound economic policies.
