RESERVE Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor John Mushayavanhu says the public should treat the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) as a first preference rather than trying to convert the new currency into US dollars as a store of value.

Speaking during an interactive meeting with the RBZ in Harare yesterday, the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president Denford Mutashu called on the central bank to address the demand of payments in foreign currency by the manufacturing sector.

In his response, Mushayavanhu said Zimbabweans should treat the ZiG with utmost respect rather than as a “transitory currency”
