Zimbabwe gets US$31,8m drought insurance pay-out

ZIMBABWE yesterday received a total of US$31,8 million as drought insurance pay-out from the African Risk Capacity Group to combat the effects of the El Nino-induced drought and climate shocks.

From this amount, US$16, 8 million is drought insurance complemented by other pay-outs to other partners, the World Food Programme, which received US$6,1 million and Start Network, which got US$8,9 million.

The funds are expected to benefit some 508 435 vulnerable households in 27 districts across the country.
