TRADE development and promotion body ZimTrade says it has developed around 20 export clusters across the country as it integrates different sectors into mainstream export business.
“Over the last year alone as ZimTrade through the guidance of our leadership, we have managed to develop 20 clusters across all provinces in Zimbabwe. To put this into context, we have managed to set up export businesses in Rushinga, Muzarabani, Chimanimani, Beitbridge, in Kotwa, to mention a few,” ZimTrade chief executive Allan Majuru told the recent annual exporters conference.
“We are working on a programme which to date has seen the Chinhoyi University of Technology getting a deal to export watermelons to Dubai. They are going to start with five hectares and this is going to grow up to 50 hectares.
“The deal has been signed, what is left is to push the product in December. The same applies to Midlands State University (MSU). Citrus products from MSU are going to start landing in Dubai next year. The logistics for this deal have already been sorted out,” Majuru said.
