THE Auditor General’s (AG) Office is grappling with an acute shortage of skilled auditors, aging systems, and insufficient resources, a development it says is hindering its major task of safeguarding the transparency of public entities’ finances.

This emerged at the weekend during the 2025 pre-budget presentation in Bulawayo by acting AG Rhea Kujinga who said her office was forced to rely on subcontracted private firms to carry out some of its audits.
