THE Bulawayo City Council (BCC) is owed over US$1,4 million from its over 12 000 rented properties dotted across the city.
This is according to the council’s latest minutes. “The total monthly income billed was US$518 197.
The outstanding balances as at the end of March 2024 billing was US$1 419 567,” read the minutes.
However, in his contribution, Bulawayo mayor David Coltart said the rental amounts were lower than the standard fees pegged by the private property owners. “I have concerns on the outstanding debts owed to the council from rented properties…,” Coltart said.
