THE government has set the producer price for sugar cane at US71, 00 per tonne this season as part of efforts to end the dispute between farmers and manufacturers over the issue.

In a letter to sugar cane farmers and millers dated May 13, Industry and Commerce minister Mangaliso Ndlovu said the season’s prices had been arrived at in terms of the law.

“…the price of cane delivered to the miller using the Cane Purchase Agreement (CPA) is hereby pegged at US$71, 00 per tonne during this 2024/2025 season…,” said Ndlovu.
