AGRICULTURE permanent secretary Obert Jiri says the government is optimistic about the prospects of industrial hemp and medicinal cannabis production in the country.
“The current state of industrial hemp and medicinal cannabis research in Zimbabwe is characterised by progress and optimism.
“Dedicated research facilities have emerged, partnerships with international institutions have been established, and regulatory frameworks have been put in place to ensure responsible cultivation and usage,” Jiri said during a cannabis policy workshop in Harare this week.
“Through these efforts, Zimbabwe strives to be a leader in cannabis research and development, contributing to scientific knowledge, the well-being of its people, and economic growth.”
