THE Zimbabwe Industrial Hemp Trust (ZITH) has called on the government to incentivise the farming of industrial hemp in the country to facilitate access to financial capital from both the public and private sectors.
According to statistics presented by the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) at a recent meeting in Harare, only 12 out of the 23 registered growers managed to cultivate the Cannabidiol flower crop during the 2023/24 season.
ZIHT chief executive, Zorodzai Maroveke, highlighted the lack of access to finance as a major obstacle to realising the potential of industrial hemp in Zimbabwe.
