THE government will soon be launching the Industrial Development Fund to help firms upgrade their equipment and technology, reducing idle capacity.
This comes after the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries 2024 manufacturing sector survey revealed that the country’s manufacturing sector capacity utilisation remained stagnant at 52,3 percent in 2024. From the survey, almost half of the manufacturing sector is idle as many firms struggle to optimise their capacities.
