THE Zimbabwe Electricity Regulatory Authority says that independent power producers (IPPs) have made significant contributions to electricity supply, with their generation increasing to 108 gigawatt hours (GWh) in the second quarter of 2024.
During the quarter, IPPs contributed 4,8 percent of local generation while imports from regional utilities were 510 GWhs. IPPs have become a significant player in Zimbabwe’s energy sector, contributing to the country’s electricity supply and diversifying the energy mix.
