Lithium mine accused of illegal water extraction

A MELFORT-BASED lithium mining company is being accused of conniving with corrupt Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) officials to illegally extract water from a neighbouring horticulture farm.

This has seriously affected the day-to-day operations of Utopia Fresh Exporters owned by Michael Ndoro. Ndoro has since written to Zinwa chief executive Taurayi Maurikira raising his concerns over the illegal water extraction and how it was affecting his operations.

“I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of grave concern regarding the illegal extraction of water from a private weir by a Chinese entity…”
