STATE-OWNED telecommunications group, NetOne has commenced deployment of fifth generation (5G) network across strategic locations in Harare in anticipation of the upcoming 44th SADC Summit Heads of State and Government scheduled for August this year.
5G mobile network is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. It has a lower latency, high speeds (up to 10 times faster than 4G) and support for numerous connected devices compared with 4G networks.
In an interview with The Financial Gazette, Netone chief executive Raphael Mushanawani highlighted the urgency to ensure seamless 5G connectivity at key venues.
