AUTHORITIES must introduce clear guidelines regulating operations of the informal sector to ensure accurate pricing of goods and elimination of artificial exchange rates.
This comes as the country’s informal sector is estimated to account for up to 64 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.
In a letter dated November 22, 2024, and addressed to minister of Industry Mangaliso Ndhlovu from the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president, Denford Mutashu, the retailers pleaded with the government to regulate the informal sector.
