THE Treasury is considering an energy subsidy for Zimbabwe’s nickel and chrome mining sectors to stimulate production in 2025, as these energy-intensive industries struggle to keep pace with other mining sectors.
The proposal, discussed at a recent pre-budget seminar in Bulawayo, highlights the lagging growth in nickel and chrome compared to booming sectors like diamond, gold, and lithium, which have posted growth rates of 103 percent, 35 percent, and 1 729 percent respectively.
