FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube yesterday said the introduction of the new Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency will affect national budgetary allocations disbursements although the situation will improve soon.
This comes amid complaints by various government departments that they were getting their votes from the National Budget late, a development that hindered them from financing their programmes.
Appearing before the joint parliamentary portfolio committee on Finance and Industry yesterday, Ncube said while he had directed his team to improve the disbursements, the recent introduction of the ZiG currency would still cause some delays.
“This is because we had a budget announcement denominated in RTGS and in April this year we announced the ZiG in the middle of the month, therefore, because of the documentation and balance processes that were ready, we could not release funds to the government because of changing to ZiG…”
