THE government has introduced a petroleum levy of US$0.005 per litre on all imported petroleum products.
In a Government Gazette published last Friday, Energy minister Edgar Moyo confirmed the new measures adding that the funds would enhance energy access in rural communities.
“It is hereby notified that the minister of Energy and Power Development after consultation with the authority has, in terms of section 57 of the Petroleum Act (Chapter 13:22), made the following regulations, which will be cited as the Petroleum (Levy) Regulations, 2024…”
